Fjällbacka - Ingrid Bergman's place of longing
A strip of land on Sweden's western coast called Bohuslän welcomes its visitors with windy gusts, small harbors, picturesque towns, many white houses and the archipelago known for Scandinavia.
The whole region stretches from Gothenburg to the border of Norway. 25 kilometers before crossing it is the small town of Fjällbacka. Not a thousand people live here, but nevertheless the image of the place corresponds to the ideas one has of the typical Sweden.

Winters are cold, sleepy and lonely. But in summer there is a lot going on here. Then many Norwegians with their motorboats and sailing yachts find their way here to spend their vacations. More and more often people from other parts of Europe come here as well.
Three women have immortalized themselves in the history of the place.
Ingrid Bergman was a permanent guest on Danholmen. The small island is located off Fjällbacka in the North Sea. Although the actress died in London, her ashes were scattered on the water off Fjällbacka in 1982.
There is a bust of her in the harbor. The square was named after her and is now called Ingrid Bergman Torg.
The famous children's author Astrid Lindgren is also associated with Fjällbacka. Some film scenes of her story Ronja the Robber's Daughter were shot at Vetteberget in the Kungsklyftan crevice.
Swedish crime writer Camillia Läckberg has also made the setting of the place the setting for her murderous stories.
